Doyle
Lawson & Quicksilver
Help Is On The Way
Horizon Records
BY ROBERT STEELMAN

It’s hard to imagine how anyone could listen to this and not feel better! This version of Quicksilver is made up of Darren Beachley, guitar/vocals; Alan Johnson, fiddle/vocals; Carl White, bass/piano/and vocals; and Josh Swift, Dobro/ percussion/vocals. The pace is aptly set with a lively banjo kick into I Know, I Know. The title cut is a wonderful, country-flavored composition taken from the Old Testament. There’s some great four-part harmony throughout - but it’s especially effective on One Of These Days and again on What Shall I Do With Jesus. Quicksilver set the standard for a capella singing in bluegrass and carries on that tradition with He Made It All Right. The Louvin Brothers’ Keep Your Eyes On Jesus is a great way to end this set.
