Lonesome County
BY HAL COTTRELL

Lonesome County is the self-titled debut project from the winners of the 2006 Renfro Valley, Kentucky Bluegrass Band Contest. Although the liner notes indicate that there are some original songs on the project, the credits lack information as to who wrote which song. Despite the fact that there are places that the timing and vocal mix waiver, this does not distract from the overall recording quality. While the project is not perfect, it is a highly professional effort and the original material is well constructed and executed. This is a band that deserves to be listened to. Tracks include Light Blue Gingham Gown, Don’t Hold Me Down, Lonesome County Line, Darling Pal Of Mine, West Virginia Coal Mining Man, In Despair, Fool’s Conversation, Your Love Is Like A Flower and more.  BMP
