Russ
Barenberg
When At Last
BY HAL COTTRELL

Russ Barenberg could very well be one of the best guitar
players that too few folks have heard. Several tunes display a very strong
Celtic influence, such as Little Monk, while others have a Dixieland
feel, as on The Man In The Hat. To quote Dick Clarks’ American Band
Stand, "These songs have a beat and you can dance to them." There are a good
variety of tempos and even a polka beat or two. This CD showcases not only
Russ’s compelling musicianship, but also highlights the talents of the great
pickers that he chose to help him on this fantastic instrumental project. Songs
include Fat Mountain, The Pleasant Beggar, On Milo’s Back, A Dream For
Sophie, Redbird In The Willow/The Lakes, Jump Back Barley, The Drummers Of
England, Aux Marches du Palais (On The Steps Of The Palace).
