Spring Creek Bluegrass Band
A Lonesome Way To Go
BY PAUL PRIEST

This young Colorado band has caught my ear with a youthful energy that I haven’t heard in quite a while. The new project kicks off with the sassy Done This To Yourself and rocks along with the driving bass and strong lead vocals of Jessica Smith. Chris Elliot cuts through the mix with strong banjo, anchored by the solid chop of Alex Johnstone’s mandolin. Taylor Sims brings an interesting take on modern bluegrass guitar with thoughtful solos and punchy rhythm. The band keeps it interesting through the entire disc mixing classics like Pathway Of Teardrops and new instrumentals such as Elliot’s Fiddler’s Banjo and That Dog’ll Hunt. Spring Creek have put out a bluegrass album strong enough to push them into the national scene.  BMP
