MONROE CROSSING
Monroe Crossing is celebrating 10 years together and are proud of the music they represent. BMP talked to each band member in order for you to get to know them a bit better. We introduce you to each member and their duties. They touch upon their new CD “Heartache & Stone” which includes many originals. Monroe Crossing has their eyes on the future and have no intention of slowing down.
Bob Jones played guitar for Bill Monroe in the mid-sixties. He shares his memories with BMP which includes how he missed his first audition after being stung by a yellowjacket that was in his cola. As fate had it he was given another opportunity to impress Bill Monroe and become a Blue Grass Boy.
Our ShopTalk feature this issue is with IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year Jesse Brock. He shares that he started out as a singer at age seven and learned to play fiddle at age eight and learned mandolin by the age of nine. He discusses his influences along with the instruments he owns and gives advice to anyone wanting to learn to play mandolin.
