East Tennessee State University is the first in the nation to offer a baccalaureate in bluegrass, old time and country music. ETSU President Dr. Paul Stanton made the official announcement after years of anticipation.
“I think the program is a great way to increase you’re skills. First of all as a musician and as a singer, a song writer or recording engineer, anything you want to do,” said student Tom Cecil.
“There’s so much interest in this program, so much demand for this degree, I just think it’s the time, it’s the time and the place,” said Raymond McLain, program director.
The program will be offered this coming Spring semester.
