FEATURED REVIEW:

JOE MULLINS AND THE RADIO RAMBLERS – Rambler’s Call
By Kevin Kerfoot

This project, dedicated to Joe’s father, Paul “Moon” Mullins, features some of the best traditional bluegrass, great pickin’, singin’, and harmonies that I’ve heard in awhile. Joe’s banjo blisters on Don Reno’s Charlotte Breakdown, Evan McGregor’s fiddle soars on the mid-tempo Another Day, Matt DeSpain’s thoughtful Dobro works fill out Connie Smith and Marty Stuart’s Farmer’s Blues, Mike Terry’s mandolin shines on No Longer An Orphan, and Tim Kidd’s bass anchors the barn burnin’ Smoke Along The Track while Adam McIntosh’s guitar work runs wild. Other favorites include a great a capella version of Don’t You Want To Go Home, the great harmonies of Rambler’s Call, the lonesome of the Sammy Shelor/Ronnie Bowman-penned Mountain Girl.
